A chain started here in Illinois! Great variety, homey atmosphere. It's our favorite place to grab brunch on the weekends.
We tried this place during our first trip to Chicago. Not shocking -- the pancakes are great.
After living in the South, we're quite picky about our BBQ. Nestled in a cute alley, this is a great place for a relaxed lunch or dinner at their communal-style tables.
Brick oven baked, thin-crust pizza. Consistently voted best pizza in Chicago. On a little canal, the outdoor seating is incredible (get a reservation ahead of time to ensure you get a seat outside)!
We're regulars here. Incredibly authentic Italian food, located in the West Loop neighborhood. Get ready for friendly servers and a warm atmosphere. If you're lucky, you might get a limoncello shot on the house!
**Reservations strongly recommended** Described as having "a lavish old-world-pub theme," this restaurant's vibe is unbeatable. Give yourself some time prior to your reservation to explore the boutiques that surround it!
Unique sushi dishes, hip hop music, need we say more? They also have a great lunch special that is also available on the weekends!
This recommendation is not for the faint of heart. This is the best burger in Chicago, hands down. However, this restaurant does not accept reservations. So, be prepared to wait. Our hack is to arrive at 4 PM and get cocktails at one of the surrounding bars while you wait (you'll likely be seated at 6 PM)!
Too much? Try Small Cheval, its quick-service cousin.
Probably the priciest restaurant on the list. However, we’d be remiss to not include it — as this is the restaurant we went to after getting engaged. Amazing steaks, great wine, and, if you’re lucky, maybe celebratory cotton candy.
Can't beat the proximity! Right beside our apartment is our favorite medieval-themed bar. Feeling adventurous? Try a local favorite: a shot of Malört.
Full disclosure: they have very weird hours, so check online to see they're open before making the trek.
Underground tiki bar. On the pricier side but a very cool experience -- literally looks like the entrance to a Disney ride. Drinks are fairly boozy, which helps rectify the price.
Named after Bri's mom (just kidding!). However, this is the best bar/restaurant to go to for unobstructed views of The Bean. This place does get very crowded in peak hours. Be prepared to wait or make a meal reservation!
